new
media toolkit
movies and motion graphics |
|
Expectations of new media run high. The audience
has grown up experiencing thousands of hours of high production
value television and will not be appeased by a CD project reliant
on flat, inanimate graphics. Now that most computers are capable
of displaying video, there's no excuse for excluding such a compelling
element.
- Utilising
the mini-DV format, shooting location or 'talking head' video
is not prohibitively expensive, yet the quality can be astounding.
Clips of real products, processes or people will engage viewers
more thoroughly than any other new media device.
- TV
style motion graphics which support spoken presentations incorporate
synchronised photos, charts, text and animations. There's no limit
to the variety of effects that can be applied - though the objective
of the communication must not disappear in the razzmatazz. Sequences
can be crafted to any quality level, whether intended for personal
viewing or projected to an audience. (To a limited extent it's
even possible to deliver this kind of presentation across the
web. You
can see an example of this if you follow this link
and click on the TOUR button. This is compact, narrated, online
version of a media rich sequnce originally developed for a promotional
CD project.)
- Existing
video content is readily digitised, edited and integrated with
new motion graphics and narration. Corporate videos can take on
a new lease of life within CD projects.
At
the very least your CD project should feature an opening animation.
It's like putting a full colour jacket on a book. If it's well produced
and relevant it will entice viewers to watch beyond the main menu
screen.
Delivering
your marketing message with added sound and video is so much more
compelling than traditional print media. And
including extra new media features like faxback, e-mail or internet
links, you will summon a response
so much more easily.
